Team Green Racing travelled to the Archerville circuit for the Young Guns Feature meeting today.

Hopes were not high after a trying practice day on Saturday, when the team could not get any grip or balance in the kart and Robert had come to the conclusion that he had also forgotten how to drive.

The first heat was held in mild conditions, and Robert was drawn fourth place on the grid, with David Cramp on pole. The kart had felt much better in the morning warm-up after changes were made to the settings overnight. With a bit more confidence the plan of attack was to attempt to slot into second place at the start and to then follow David and hopefully launch an attack towards the end of the race.

The start went to plan, even though the shiny chrome on the kart suffered as a result of some first corner jostling. Both David and Robert were able to put a decent gap on the rest of the field, but Robert did not have the pace to challenge for the lead. At the end of the eight laps, the positions remained unchanged, with Lyn Cengia third.

Race two saw the Team Green Racing kart starting from sixth, with Lyn and Dale Madden ahead and David behind. A good start saw Robert slot into fifth place at the start and some forceful driving saw him move through the field. David drafted a clean pass on the straight on lap three but it nearly all came to grief on lap five when Robert was lapping Margaret and passing Stephen Johnson and was caught as the meat in the sandwich. Fortunately a bit of tyre rubbing was the limit of the contact and Robert ended the race in third place, closing on Dale but unable to pass him, with David again taking the win after a late race pass on Dale.

The results from the previous two races saw the Team Green Racing kart start heat three from second on the grid. This placed Robert on the outside of the front row next to David, with Lyn on the inside in third place. At the start Robert found himself stuck on the outside and decided that it was best to slot in behind Lyn and ensure a good finish for a good grid position in the final rather than force the issue.

With David disappearing into the distance to yet another win, Lyn and Robert engaged in a wonderful race-long battle, at least ten overtaking moves being made and only once there being contact when Robert touched the back of Lyn's kart. On the dash to the finish line on the last lap, Robert made a desperate last gasp lunge at Lyn, with the final gap being just eight thousandths of a second in Lyn's favour.

The final was a twelve lap affair, and after the heats Robert had secured second on the grid. Rod and Geoff impressed upon Robert that it was vital for him to hold on to second at the start and then use his extra pace to make a break.

At the start, Lyn again tucked in right behind David, but Robert took the team's advice and this time stayed beside Lyn on the outside through the first corner. They touched, but Robert held his position and had the inside running into turn two. Emerging in second, Robert tried to catch David, who had pulled a twenty metre gap after the start. David was too quick, though, pulling about a tenth of a second a lap and they held station for the rest of the race, with Lyn holding on to third place.

Congratulations to David for a great performance, winning all four races today. Team Green Racing is ecstatic with taking second place, and Robert thoroughly enjoyed his heat three dice with Lyn.

Rod and Geoff again excelled with their advice and the team now looks forward to the first round of the closed state titles to be held at Orielton on 3 March.
