Today saw the running of the pre-final and the final of the Tasmanian Kart Titles, with the winner of the final being crowned state champion and receiving the coveted blue plate.

The pre-final was held in cool and fine conditions in the morning, with Team Green Racing's Robert Green starting from grid position seven. At the start, Robert slotted into seventh position behind Chris Price with Peter Rogers in fifth.

David Reading quickly established a good gap over the remainder of the field, with Dale Madden and Steve Crocker battling it out for the minor placings. David Cramp was falling through the field with pain from injured ribs. Robert was close behind Peter Rogers when they caught David, but the Team Green Racing driver was more hesitant in making his overtaking manoeuvre on David and at that point lost touch with those in front.

David Reading maintained his lead to race end, but there was a controversial finish in the minor placings as neither Dale nor Steve appeared to want to finish second, which would mean they would have to start on the outside of the grid for the final. Heading towards the finish line on the last lap, Chris Price and Peter Rogers had both caught the second and third placed drivers. Suddenly the four karts were veering in all directions and Chris found himself crossing the line in second ahead of Dale, Peter and Steve. The words "brake tested" were muttered after the race, but the truth may never be known.

Robert finished sixth and will start the final from the outside of the third row of the grid.
