Team Green Racing completed its first test today at the Archerville circuit just outside the northern suburbs of Launceston.
Final outing for the number 1 plate A fine and mild day greeted the team, and whilst the track was cool, it was pretty much clean and free of dirt. The initial systems checks revealed that the thorough preparation undertaken at the team's workshop had been worthwhile, as the kart ran faultlessly throughout the day.
After three trouble-free eight lap sessions, it was decided that it would be worthwhile to run a session to try and set a benchmark lap for future reference. Driver Robert Green had been happy with the outcome of this rather intensive learning process and given that consistent times were being achieved was confident that a meaningful time could be set. The session went better than expected, with all fast laps in the high 41 second bracket and the best time being a 41.64 second lap. This is about 7/10ths of a second slower than what the class front runners achieve, but is still a solid midfield time. Reasonable times came later in the day Team Green Racing is estatic that competitive times are being achieved less than thirty laps after they first put the kart on the track. It gives encouragement to all concerned that the basics are there and that there is still room for improvement. |
